Sukanya Bhattacharya

Sukanya Bhattacharya (she/her) is a 2nd year PhD student at the Department of Sociology, University of Tennessee. Her primary concentration is in Criminology and her secondary concentration is Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies. Her research interests include gender-based sexual violence in India, carceral feminism and alternative modes of justice. 

She is a Graduate Teaching Associate and is currently the primary instructor for SOC110: Social Problems and Social Justice.

She has completed her B.A. (Hons) in Political Science from Presidency University (2017-2020) and M.A. in Women’s Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai (2020-2022).
