Purba Bhattacharjee
Purba Bhattacharjee’s main concentration is in Criminology, with a strong focus on child labor, Indigenous people’s rights, capitalism, and violence in the United States. She also has a secondary interest in Environmental Sociology, where she is exploring advanced methodologies to enhance the analysis of large-scale datasets.
While pursuing her doctoral studies, Purba serves as a Graduate Teaching Associate and is a primary instructor for SOC110: Social Problems and Social Justice.
She completed a BSS (Bachelor of Social Science) and MSS (Master of Social Science) in International Relations from the University of Chittagong, as well as an MA in Sociology from the University of Memphis. Her master’s thesis, titled “The Relationship Between State Policies and Gun Violence in the United States,” for which she was awarded the Morton Thesis Award for her outstanding research.
