OUR
VISION
Our sociological research and teaching are inspired by our drive for excellence and our understanding of social justice. We can only realize social justice when the causes of injustice are clear. Such clarity is gained through rigorous empirical analysis guided by theory. Analysis can then enrich teaching and learning, and contribute to public policy formation, and serve in various social settings to achieve a just society. Through research and teaching in the interest areas of criminology, environmental issues, and globalization and political economy, faculty and students develop an understanding of everyday social behavior as well as the structural factors that contribute to social injustice.
