Kyra Martinez (she/her/hers) obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2023 with a concentration in criminology. Her teaching and research interests include carceral studies, social activism and movements, drug use, and gender. Prior to studying at the University of Tennessee, Kyra received an MS in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University and a BS in Sociology from Old Dominion University.
