Chasidy Harris

Chasidy Harris (she/her) is currently residing in South Knoxville with her orange tabby cat, Honeybun. She is a non-traditional first-generation student and worked for many years as a caregiver for disabled people before returning to school. She completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology at Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA) and wrote an undergraduate thesis titled “There is more than one way to burn a book”: Repercussions of Fear on Democratic Freedoms.” Chasidy has a Political Economy and Globalization concentration and plans to complete the Graduate Theory Certificate while studying at the University of Tennessee. Her current research interests include looking at how fear shapes societies and continues a cycle of injustice.

While at KSU, Chasidy served as President of the KSU chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta (an International Sociology Honors Society) and she hopes to help start an AKD chapter here at UTK. Outside of her studies, Chasidy enjoys exploring Knoxville, traveling (when there is time), reading, and trying new activities like indoor rock climbing.
