Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, I obtained my BA at the University of Tampa where I majored in sociology and worked on a research project concerning the sociology of religion.  After I graduated, I migrated to Knoxville to pursue my MA at the University of Tennessee.  Having completed my Master's thesis on the Greek financial crisis, I am currently working on my PhD with a concentration in Theory and Political Economy.  Moving away from Greece, my dissertation focuses on the role of ideology in modern American society.  Specifically, I am interested in how ideology functions to conceal contradictions in American society and democratic politics.  My other research interests include Critical Theory, the nature of Democracy, and a continued engagement with the Greek financial crisis.
